A Compliment?
Published by Matt Glover June 27th, 2007 in Family & ParentingSo I go into the post office today to submit my forms for the ‘Working With Children’ check.
The woman takes one look at my photo and says, “We can’t use that. You look happy.”
Obviously the government only wants miserable people working with children. Anyway, that’s a side issue…
She takes a new photo then starts working her way through my pile of ID for the 100 points requirement.
She looks at my passport photo, then looks at me a bit strangely. It’s eight years old, but I don’t think i look that different,
Then she looks at my Driver’s licence which is only a year old. She looks at the photo then looks at me. With a smile she says:
“You look better with no hair.”
I’ve always thought I’m good looking, so it’s nice to have it confirmed.
Smart bum comments from anybody will be deleted.
From someone who had a completely shaved head for 3 years (and we’re talking using a razor blade each morning), every told me that I looked great without hair. Those that knew me previously with hair told me I looked better without it. Then I grew hair. And they told me I looked better with hair. Go figure!
Australia Post and WWC forms don’t mix.
I’ve just come back from a week at a kids camp and the majority of the leaders all got shafted on ridiculous technicalities related to one of the forms of ID that they provided.
One of our guys got rejected because he’d detached the useless bit of his car rego form with the perforated line and thrown it away. Another leader got told that a probationary drivers licence wasn’t an Australian Drivers Licence. Upon questioning this they were told that they could use it but could only have 25 points instead of 40 points. We’ve since checked up and that’s a complete joke.
I personally got dismissed the first time because my last superannuation statement (sent out every six months) had the address I lived at 6 months ago on it (which I had disclosed in the application) instead of my current address.
They basically look for any reason they can find to send you packing. Be prepared.
P.S. Matt - glad to see you left it to the last minute like the rest of us.
