If they ever prove that they've found the bones of Jesus Christ (which is a physical impossibility for several reasons) then the religion of Christianity would have to have been built on a lie. I recognize that there are some that would still cling to their religious beliefs dispite such a development but that is a glaring feature of blind faith. If Jesus never rose from the dead on the third day then the whole thing falls apart because His body, His blood, and His spirit was Life. What he left behind (and this is missed by Christianity today) was His blood. His blood was Life and it was completely bled out on the cross. That's what must be found. Not just some words printed on paper and bound in a book. Although it has been used to create blind faith in the masses the Bible is an interesting relic is not nedded to find the blood of Christ. Don't believe me? Check out the experience of Paul on his way to Damascus. David ...The Godiologist

To me the question is like 'What if they found out that we don't need to breathe to live', or even the actual claim by some that we can be fed purely by sunshine.

The point is that it won't happen - if our faith is true, then the resurrection can never be proved a falsehood - it is a cornerstone that cannot be removed.

So if someone could 'prove' that we didn't need to breathe, then trust me, I'd still keep breathing. Call me wacky for holding onto my faith in old beliefs, but no amount of proof would make me do otherwise.

I'm the opposite - perhaps it's my science background! I need evidence to sway me one way or another. I don't need 100% proof, but more han just 'a nice idea.'

Not surprisingly though, I end up at the same place as you Alison. There seems to be much more evidence for Jesus' life, death and new life than there does against. At the end of the day, faith fills the rest of the gaps.

1. That verse in one of Paul's letters where he addresses those who don't believe in Resurrection (like the Jewish sect, the Sadducees) - if there is no resurrection of the dead (any dead!) then our faith is worthless and we have been living a lie.

Which is pretty serious.

But as I mentioned in your other post, if there are bones found in the tomb, it can't be his tomb- whether you are a believer of non-believer- because the remains were "stolen".

But history- while important to the faith, history, archaeology and other "proof" mean nothing to me. I know, personally, the power of God- and of Jesus Christ. I have felt it- seen it- I believe it. It's a choice I've made to believe, because sometimes, yes, I don't feel it, don't see it- but I know that I have- and that gets me through the non-feeling times. I've chosen to believe that the Bible is God-breathed and true.

So, whatever proof there is for evolution, what ever the scientific thought of the time, how ever many bones and tombs they find- I will not be shaken. What does your faith rest on? God, or 'evidence'?
