Published October 20th, 2006 in Misc StuffI started gettting visitors from Wikipedia for some reason and then realised that the General and his cohorts have been up to no good again…
Actually, it’s a pretty good entry on our church, but if you scroll back through the history you’ll find a few things that should give you a laugh.

Wow, I didnt think it would take on so quickly. Well, feel free to add to it (within reason. Ive already had to rein in that Mayhem fella). I need to adjust the actual church history, and could do with some more infor on brigades and playgroups history.
I like it. Maybe a little irreverent. I get the impression that people view you as some kind of midget, General. Thats three short jokes. Every church should get themselves on Wiki.

‘Irreverent’ decribes our church fairly accurately really. They let me be their pastor after all…
And yes, the General needs to stand on a box so he can pee into the toilet.

Yes, the gnoming phenomena was rahter interesting, and had some rather interesting side affects for the general from what I heard…
Wow, it’s had a few additions since I last looked at it… but still, nice to have it there… I’ll need to add a link to the Youth Site though… And Greg is now “mythical”, I’ve heard there were a few in between, but last time I looked he was “fabled” is that an upgrade in status…? And perhaps we are a little irreverent sometimes… How high can you build a tower of duplo during a service? Or has anyone spotted the car wheel sitting above the stage in recent times?
Still, it’s all in good fun…
Oh I’m all for pranks. I just want to know how you stole gnoming from Sydney. Im sure we’ve been doing it longer.
But yeah, reverence thing is a little wierd. We can goof off lots outside of church, but making jokes about our organ (lol, the musical kind) and things specifically church-related are somewhat taboo for us.
Why don’t you just get the General a potty?
I hadn’t thought of a potty - but I’m still not sure his aim would be good enough. Sad but true…
Funny how precious some things can become in the church culture. Jesus says nothing about how we should ‘do’ church other than to have communion and baptise people. All the other stuff he simply left up to us. If we start saying that this or that has to be the way it is because that’s how God likes it, we’re lying.
In fact, I reckon there’s a whole lot of stuff that God likes that we don’t.
Anyway, I think church is important. But it (we) should never take ourselves so seriously that we can’t make a bit of fun of what we do.
