Matt: I've discovered, like you, the downside of discipling people. When they rise up in their ministry and calling, they often have to leave to fulfill it. We've seen it over and over again. It is a bitter-sweet thing, and there's no way around it. Dan is right... we are to live godly lives of excellence. But there is not only gain, but pain in that when we have to separate from each other, even if only for a time. I just read yesterday in Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest, "This man did not want to disappoint Jesus, nor to hurt his father. We put sensitive loyalty to relatives in place of loyalty to Jesus Christ and Jesus has to take the last place. In a conflict of loyalty, obey Jesus Christ at all costs." Counts for friends too. Thus spoke churchpundit!
