The Bum of Christ

One of the resons I’m a little bit ‘anti-conference’. Too much talk…
My experience tells me that if I want to motivate somebody to do something, talking doesn’t do a whole lot. I have to show and involve them in what is happening, not just let them sit there and feel good because they made the ‘effort’ to listen for an hour or so.
It’s a slower approach. Not as popular and involves far less people, but I think it produces the “fruit that will last” rather than another passing fad.
So what about sermons? isn’t that just a whole lot of talking? does it motivate people to do something or participate?or does it just make them feel good to make an effort and hear a few points which they tend to forget by monday morning anyway?-not having a go at you, just wondering out loud…(anyway, it would be having a go at myself too you know!)
you can pray when sitting…
