We’re In!
Published May 10th, 2006 in Misc StuffArrived safely and are now living in the ‘Hills’. It’s a nice feeling…
Everything went reasonably smoothly, though I did have to use my powers of ‘negotiation’ with the vendor’s (ie the people that were selling the house to us) solicitor. Settlement was scheduled for 12:30 on Monday afternoon. My solicitor rang at 12:40 to say all had gone through smoothly. I went to the agent to pick up the keys, but they had yet to receive confirmation from the vendors solicitor.
They rang the solicitors office and found that the solicitor hadn’t sent the confirmation fax yet, but had just gone off for lunch and would be back until 2:00pm. Given that we were paying our removalist by the hour, I wasn’t too impressed with this idea.
The real estate agent rang again, but was told the same story and there was nothing he could do about it.
I asked the agent for the number and rang them myself. I didn’t swear, but I think I managed to invoke the fear of God into the person on the other end of the phone. The fax arrived in the next two minutes.
And then we moved in.
In the end, it was pretty easy, but I’d be more than happy if we never have to move again!
so don’t! (move again)
I like that- fear of God. mmm. with God on your side, who can be against you?
how about a housewarming?
You know, young people, yelling, wrestling, thumping eachother and having a good time- you won’t need to worry about making friends with your neighbours then!
