Continuing our series on the spiritual disciplines, but concluding the shorter series on prayer, Cam tackled the “Why Doesnt God Answer When I Pray?” question. Again, if I’m honest, there’s been numerous times when I’ve thought this. Answers have been hard to see and sometimes it seems like God isn’t listening.

Cam started of by describing some of our typical prayers:

  • sometimes we make demands of God, acting like kids
  • other times, we justify our demands to God, indicating that a good answer would be in God’s best interest.
  • their are times we plead (whinge) with God
  • we often try to bargain with God, saying “I’ll do this if you do that.”
  • and sometimes we will work hard, thinking that somehow we can earn an answer to prayer.

Cam also said that God wants our lives, wants us to pray from our hearts and to pray in community. From individuals God requires honesty, an inward desire for Godly things and a committment to live the message of scripture.

And then Cam summed up his message in three simple words: GOD ALWAYS ANSWERS

The answer to prayer are there, but sometimes they are hard to see. Sometimes we are not listening or misguided. Nevertheless, answers are always there.

Lots of thought provoking points that Cam raised - a fitting conclusion to our series on prayer.

If God wants us to pray, we pray whole heartedly and believe and no he can answer, and our prayers are earnestly seeking to know God better then why doesn’t he answer. Im thinking along the lines of a no Christian here wher if they pray to God wanting him to change them and wanting to know him then , what does it mean if nothing happens as a result of the prayer. Especially if God wants people to know him in a real way wouldn’t granting those sort of prayers glorify God.

So many questions in there Pam.

It is sometimens hard to hear “God always answers.” We need to be honest with ourselves before God.

Maybe someone could pray with the person who is having trouble hearing from God. You know the verse (Matther 18:20) for where two or three are in Jesus name - Jesus will be there also.

Thanks. But I dunno if that’ll work it’s a bit awkward. But I am praying for her. But it’s strange how God works sometimes so bellow the surface it’s really quiet hard to see God’s work.
