Time Out

I’m off with a few others on retreat for the next few days, then off with Katrina for the weekend to celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary!
So, all things computer and blog will be far from my mind - keep sending your questions through though and I’ll start posting some thoughts next week.

It was “Commissioning Sunday” for our MBC crew over the weekend.
We commissioned our elected leaders, ministry leaders and interns in their responsibilities for the coming 12 months.
We then looked at the story of Elijah from the Old Testament - the one where he challenges the prophets of Baal to a contest, wins via […]

When I first heard about this blogging thing, I was intrigued.
As I read blogs from all around the world, I was fascinated by the people that were writing, I was stimulated by the thoughts and ideas that were presented and I was challenged by world views very different to my own.
Yet, at the same time, […]

A Link in the Title

Does anyone know how I make the MattGlover.com image (above) a hyper link back to the main page of the blog?
I’m too lazy to look up the wordpress help pages…

I’ve wondered about this a bit lately, but even more so after reading the news that Youth Specialties has lost its editorial role in YouthWorker Journal. The story goes that Salem Publishing has decided to reclaim that part of Youth Worker, leaving YouthSpecialties to rethink what it exists for.
Let me quote Mark Oestricher, President of […]

There’s been a bit of discussion about tithing (ie donating money to a church as part of faith/discipleship) around the emerging church blogoshere of late. But regardless of what your theological viewpoint is, if you have teenage kids that are Christian, you’ll get asked this. Believe me!

We had a thanks-giving service last night with a local parachurch/mission organisation which saw about 250 missionary minded young people come together to tell the stories of what God had been doing through them over the last few weeks.
It was hot - 42 degress centigrade. So all the doors were opened, drinks flowed pretty freely […]

It’s so stinking hot here in Melbourne it’s not funny anymore. It’s about 50 degrees C in my study, hence the lack of computer time!
Anyway, I’ve been following with interest the writings on Jesus by Anne Rice, of Interview With A Vampire fame.
She’s had an encounter with Jesus and is not writing about him, viewing […]

We looked at the story of Cain and Abel on Sunday night, and in particular, the question God asks Cain after the murder - “Where is Your Brother?”
Cain was jealous that God was looking with favour on the offerings that Abel was bringing, but receiving no such favour himself. Somehow he missed the point that […]

Check this article out in todays paper about an assault on Melbourne cartooning legend Bill ‘Weg’ Green.
That’ll teach ‘em.
Update: There’s a photo of the picture Weg drew of his attack in th paper today. See it here.
