Micah Challenge
Published by Matt Glover September 13th, 2005 in Hearing the WordOn Sunday night, 11th September, we gathered to pray for the poor of this world, the eight Millenium Development Goals, and the leaders who have ‘promised’ to see them put into place. Eight prayer stations were set up around the room (one for each MDG) with information, prayer points, a prayer activity and taper candles to light, while images from around the world were projected onto the screen and world music played quietly in the background.
I am never quite sure how these sort of things will go, particulalry given that we have significant numbers of 12-13 year olds. But as I stood back and watched what was happening, I was thrilled to see everybody participating, praying and thinking about the people who at that very moment, were staring death in the face.
I’m not sure what impact it will have in the long term, but at the very least I think the awareness level has been raised, and my prayer is that those 12-13 year olds will run with what they experienced and do their part to make poverty history.
If you were there, or if you particpated in something similar elsewhere, share a little of what you experienced…
Really enjoyed Sunday night, i suppose it again brought home to me the importance of prayer and how blessed we are in our fine country. I loved being able to sit and just pray, didnt get around to each station but could of sat and prayed all night. Thanks for all those who organised it.
Ben and I spent the morning at another church and we celebrated the gift of Children aswell. I realised how much we can learn from the little ones about faith, being teachable and trusting in our Heavenly father.
