Hiring, Permission & Pricing

Despite what many people may think, cartooning is a serious business! While I am not a full time cartoonist, the income from my artwork does contribute to putting food on my family's table, therfore I am not interested in doing work for "exposure" only.

When asking for a quote, there is some information I will need from you. This includes:

The rights you would like.

The place you intend to use the work. Is it a newspaper or magazine (include circulation), t-shirt, web site, etc

How many times you intend to use the work. Will you use it only once, or will the work appear a number of times
in a number of different places?

Any specifications you have for the work. Things like size, colour or black & white, file type, method of delivery and so on.

As a guide, I base my quotes on the recommendation of the Australian Cartoonists' Association.

With these details worked out, a contract will be put together and the project started. I require 50% of the expected fee to be paid before work begins, with the remainder, including any additional fee for changes made to the artwork, to be paid upon delivery.

Churches that wish to use my work for their newsletters, bulletins and websites may request permission via email. A voluntary donation is requested for single use of any piece as well as appropriate acknowledgement in the place of publication.

Please contact me if you have any further queries.
